My Summary

My Experience

This is alot to read, ive gone into great depth... but please be patient with me and read it carefully so you can know fully what my experiences are in this role. And see how I can help you and your child/ren.

BABYSITTER/NANNY/AU-PAIR TYPE ROLE
From the age of 13, I was a babysitter for my 3 younger siblings, as respectfully, our parents had to work hard to keep a roof over our heads. Alas, (At the time) my siblings were 3 months old, 4 years old and 7 years old. Until the baby was old enough, I would:
• prepare and feed her formula, change her nappy and clothes when necessary etc.
• Once she was old enough, about 9 months, I would bathe her too.
• I would supervise the baby and my other two siblings as they played, or did homework,
• I'd give them snacks and then dinner
• I would assist them with bath time.
• I would also get them ready for bed every night.

By the age of 16, after earning the trust and confidence of my parents, my responsibilities increased and I became somewhat of a stand in parent. The youngest of siblings was neurodiverse (has ADHD & ASD) but this was no challenge as I was able to communicate with her very well.
My overall responsibilities at this juncture, for the following three years were:

• Get them ready for school, (and taught them the independence skills to get ready themselves eventually), feed them breakfast, prepare their packed lunches, drop off to school and/or collect the children from school on my days off from college,
• I would entertain them, prepare their snacks and dinner.
• I would get them to do their homework (eventually setting a routine for each child) all at the same time and would help/teach them where they needed.
• I would occasionally take them to the park on weekends or after school if it was appropriate time and weather.
We would do art projects, and at one point I tutored the youngest when she was 7 years old, with reading, writing and math. This was to boost her confidence in school as I noticed she was struggling and it was upsetting her. With hard work she made incredible progress (and now, 8 years on, she is pretty much smarter than me!) Honestly my proudest moment in life.

When they would get poorly, I would:
• communicate with my parents with updates on their well-being,
• check their fevers,
• administer their medications
• tend to their overall well being.
I have been asked a couple of time by nurses if I myself was a nurse due to knowing a relative amount about caring for a sick child and which medication(s) should be used.

Throughout all those years, from the age of 13 to 19, I also assisted with all types of housework tasks:
laundry, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, tidying up, food prep. All alongside looking after the children too.
Sometimes I would make some tasks into little games so that they were learning age appropriate skills like tidying up their toys, making their beds, bringing down their laundry etc.

TUTOR ROLE
At age 17 I became a tutor for KS1/KS2/KS3 Students for a few months. Here I would:
• Review curricula topics and assignments to prepare lesson material to students (worksheets/lesson plans)
• Deliver lessons to students aged 5-16yrs old and/ or assist students with homework, projects, test/exam preparation or academic tasks
• Collaborate effectively with parents, carers and the students to increase student performance
• Teach and facilitate problem-solving and critical thinking through unique and engaging teaching methods
• Tailor teaching methods derived from assessed students’ strengths/weaknesses and learner types (auditory, visual, kinaesthetic, or read/write)

PLAY WORKER ROLE
At age 18, I was offered a job at a local playcentre that I went to as a child due to my no bullying type nature. The owner at the time liked that I looked after the children who were picked on when i attended her playcentre at 11 years old. I was DBS Checked and began work. There were a handful of children with special/complex needs but again, I was able to communicate with the children effectvely in this playcentre too. The children that usually were branded as naughty by most staff members were actually pretty good when under my supervision and im probably the least strict type of person you could meet. I set boundaries, but im not strict/harsh. I think the children just liked being respected and would communicate their needs and wants with me with less of the playing up types of behavior manifesting. Regardless, at this job, I would:

• Supervise children for fair behavior during play and deal with any minor injuries
• Action our NO BULLYING policy.
• Teach and encouraging friendship, diversity & inclusion.
• Complete weekly log reports on allocated key children for purposes of safeguarding, and tracking progress in each child’s social, emotional and physical development.
• Develop, plan and facilitate play activities for young children aged 4-11 years old.
• Use play activities to aid in each child’s social and emotional development.
• Equip children with age-appropriate skills to facilitate their own play.
• Liaise with parents or carers.
• Prepare and serve healthy snacks for the children.
• Take children on day trips or other outings or organise walks to parks.
• Collect children from local schools and transport them onto site.
• Clean and site preparation tasks, e.g. wiping surfaces, cleaning kitchen area, tidying up activities etc.
• Assist with proper storage of any resources and equipment for easy access and use next time

SUPPORT NETWORK
I have for the last year been a support network member for a friend who is a specialist Foster Carer for children with complex needs. I was again, DBS Checked by the Foster Agency and then was able to officially carry out care roles more frequently. I would do activities with the children, like painting, baking, playing in the garden... I would assist with trips to the park, or the grocery store or entertain the children as she prepared dinner or vice versa. This wasn't a job to me, but I think as a parent you may appreciate the examples on the types of care I have provided in the past and can offer and provide for you and your family.

Hopefully with this, you can understand that I can pretty much assist you and your family with anything at all that is needed to be done. It has all become second nature to me by now. Through this life experience I learned an incredible amount about childcare, child development, health and safety of children, medical assistance to a child, house maintenance and probably more that I cant think of right this moment.

My Qualifications

I have 13 GCSE's: Grades A* - C (One of them would have been child Development but our school shut down the programme after running it for a year only.)
I achieved a Level 3 Diploma in 3D Design with a Distinction Grade
I also have 2 Degrees, for Architecture and Urbanism. A Bachelors Degree, and a Masters Degree.

My Availability

My availability is quite flexible really. I am available part time. 8-12 hours a week on average. For the right family I might consider further flexibility with my availability. Please don't take the below table as a strict guideline. But more as a rough guide... Its all dependent on location, requirements, circumstances of my travel arrangements. But I should definitely be able to get there for the ticked sections.

My Fees

• Babysitting from £10.00 per hour

I'm not sure how to write this. Hourly rate in cash please, to be paid either weekly or with each session.
£10 if 1 Child, £15 if two children or three
