Hello and welcome to The Reading Coach. My name is Elle and I am based in the West Sussex city of Chichester, married and happy mother of Marni, Otto, Milo and Jago.
I specialise in personalised reading coaching, focusing on foundational skills like phonics and handwriting. Last year I partnered with John Lewis, hosting pop-up story events in store, encouraging children to read for pleasure.
I am unique in my offer of online lessons: Flexible 15 or 30 minute sessions catered to your child's pace and needs. I can offer regular short lessons that will nurture your child's confidence in reading, helping them to meet and even exceed their expected outcomes.
Endless Resources: Access to a wealth of materials, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
Parent Participation: Active involvement outside lessons accelerates your child's learning journey and I will work with you and your child in supporting this.

My Experience
After years of educational experience in and outside the classroom, I have developed a well-rounded approach to teaching reading, handwriting and spelling. By combining tried and tested methods with top resources from around the world, I ensure a structured and effective program. Moreover, I incorporate various learning styles to keep lessons fun, engaging, and tailored to each pupil's needs. It's much more than just teaching; it's about creating a fulfilling and enjoyable learning experience for every child.
My Qualifications
I decided at school that I wanted to be a teacher and subsequently obtained my degree in education from a small teacher training college in England, which at the time was pioneering teacher training for primary education.
I began my career teaching at a traditional Prep school in the North of England and have taught primary-aged children for over 20 years. During the pandemic, I focused on teaching my own children, and this ignited a passion for phonics and teaching children to read. I coach children aged 3+ in person or online - worldwide.
