My Summary
About Me
I am a compassionate, reliable, and fun loving nanny/babysitter with a background in occupational therapy and special needs support work. I am passionate about helping children reach their maximum potential, and with my background in occupational therapy bring specialist knowledge in maximising a child's performance in their daily activities.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking, travelling, running, sports, craft, and spending time with my friends and family. I am a big kid at heart and love playing games and having fun with children of all ages. I also understand the importance of school work and progressing a child's independence in their daily routines and would love to help out with this if desired.
I love cooking and with my background in nutrition science know how to cook nutritious (and child friendly!) meals. I am happy to contribute to cooking and house work, and would love to cook with the children if that is something they enjoy!
I am available immediately and am happy to consider a variety of work arrangements (casual babysitting, regular nanny before/after school etc.).
My Experience
Occupational Therapist - I have been qualified as an occupational therapist for 2 years and have worked in a hospital with children and adults. Through this role I worked with children and their families to support children's independence in daily activities and plan discharge from hospital.
Babysitting - Casual babysitting was my first job when I left high school over 10 years ago and I continued this casually right throughout my studies and career.
Disability Support Worker - I previously worked for 5 years as a special needs support worker, supporting a child with autism spectrum disorder level 3, intellectual impairment, dual incontinence, hypotonia, sensory processing disorder, and intractable seizures. My roles included supporting participation in daily activities, complex behaviour management, positive behaviour support plan implementation, social story development, seizure management, non-verbal communication, and dual incontinence management. Further, I have experience with peg feeding and complex equipment including hoists and electric beds/chairs.
Occupational Therapy Assistant - Throughout my studies at university I developed my skills providing therapy assistance to children with autism spectrum disorder. My roles included emotional and sensory regulation, managing transitions, hand-writing skill development, community access, feeding, home living skills, play/social skills and gross/fine motor play.
