My Summary
About Me
I have been in my current job role for 13 years and take pride in my caring and nurturing nature, supporting vulnerable children and their families throughout their secondary school journey.
As part of my role I am a form tutor, in this position I am in daily contact with a range of families including that of students with English as an additional language, refugees and children with learning disabilities. We work together to ensure the students are fully supported in their transition with a holistic approach to not only their learning but to their wellbeing.
I am experienced in working with outside agencies and a range of professionals to share information, plan and deliver the best outcomes for every individual child. I am able to plan, monitor and deliver interventions, I currently run a reading and literacy intervention with a high percentage of students that require extra support in this area.
In the past I have also worked with preschool and primary school aged children in various settings.
My Experience
My current role is to provide support to students with Special Educational Needs.
The role involves working individually, and as a group within the classroom.
As a form tutor I liaise with parents on a daily basis and work with outside agencies to obtain, exchange and record information in accordance to the schools policy, this includes students with English as an additional language to support their transition.
I support teachers by assisting in the teaching of the curriculum and deliver intervention programs on a daily basis.
I am involved with extracurricular activities including a holiday scheme, dance shows and Duke of Edinburgh practice weekends.
I regularly attend CPD and team training to support my own learning and that of my team members.
I work closely alongside the safeguarding team to ensure all students within the academy have an open and positive culture around safeguarding and that pupil’s safety and interests come first.
I also have previous experience working with younger children in a preschool setting and in a primary school setting helping children transition to high school.
