My Summary
About Me
Hello, I'm Brónach, a 26 year old student in Aberdeen. I am a committed professional currently pursuing a BA in Social Work, with a specific focus on specialising in children and family services. My passion for supporting and nurturing young lives professionally began at the age of 17 when I first worked as a childcare worker. This experience ignited my interest in the broader aspects of child development and family dynamics. I had prior to this, babysitting experiences and a deep love of working with children.
I have achieved a HNC in Social Services and have enriched my hands-on experience with practical placements focusing on children's care. Alongside my studies, I have also gained valuable experience in caring for adults with various needs, including special needs, enhancing my understanding of holistic care practices.
My approach to childcare and family support is deeply rooted in person-centred, holistic care principles. I strongly advocate the Montessori method, which I incorporate into my care practices and child play to foster environments that promote independent learning and development at each child's own pace. This method aligns perfectly with my belief in supporting the overall development of children and addressing their physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs.
I am eager to apply my growing knowledge and skills in social work to specialise in supporting children and their families. With a foundation in practical care and a forward-looking educational path, I am dedicated to significantly and positively impacting family dynamics and child development in our community.
I am available for babysitting and proving child care. I have shown in my documents my PVG for my course which permits me to work with children and adults, however, I am happy to undergo all further check processes for any opportunity.
My Experience
I am eager to bring my extensive experience gained from both formal care settings and informal babysitting roles. Throughout my career, I have developed a deep understanding and a skill set that is finely attuned to the diverse needs of children across various age groups and developmental stages.
As an agency childcare worker in nursery settings, I focused on providing empathetic, patient, and adaptable care to all children particularly ages 0-6. This role required a deep understanding of young children's diverse needs, which I addressed by engaging them in fun and educational activities tailored to foster their development. I also assisted with their daily routines, ensuring each child felt comfortable, safe, and well cared for throughout the day. My commitment to creating a nurturing environment was fundamental in supporting the overall well-being and growth of the children in my care.
My experience in care expanded to adults and throughout my duration as a care and support worker, I had worked with various support needs. These positions required me to adapt quickly to different environments and apply a consistent and structured approach to childcare, all while being mindful of each individual needs. I also learned the importance of working collaboratively with parents, colleagues, guardians, and other health and care, professionals to ensure a holistic support system that benefits development.
Throughout my social work studies, I had a placement working with children with developmental, learning disabilities and/or neurodivergencies at a specialised additional support needs school setting. This experience provided me with in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills in supporting children with specific needs, further enhancing my ability to deliver personalised and effective care. This placement setting stressed the importance of understanding that all behaviour is a method of communication, highlighting that non-verbal cues are crucial for interpreting the feelings and needs of all children, especially those who are non-verbal.
Outside of these formal roles, I have been a trusted babysitter for friends and family for several years. This part of my experience has been equally important, providing me with opportunities to apply my professional skills in more personal settings. Babysitting has taught me a lot about the day-to-day challenges parents face and has enriched my ability to connect with children in caring and effective ways.
Through these various roles, I have seen firsthand how quality childcare can positively impact a child’s development and I am committed to providing such care. I am confident that my background in tailored educational activities, combined with my hands-on experience in managing daily childcare tasks and creating a nurturing environment, makes me a strong candidate for this position. I am looking forward to the opportunity to bring my dedication and passion for childcare within the potential role, and ensuring that each child receives the best care and support possible.
I have wide expierences both personally and professionally working with individuals of all ages with various physical disabilities, learning disabilities, neurodivergencies including autism, and mental health issues, in addition to various backgrounds. I am currently in my spare time taking lessons in learning makaton and BSL.
I am taking every opportunity to develop my learning in all aspects in childcare, by continuing to participate within courses which would support my childcare role, including a current ongoing Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism with West Scotland College.
