My Summary
About Me
I am 18 years old and I have always wanted to be a primary school teacher. I am looking experience for enrolling with Stranmillis. My passion is to work with children and relieve the stress of parents.
My Experience
I enjoy interacting with children, hoping to excel as a great educator and innovator. Being highly motivated and competitive; I initiated and sustained a placement within a local primary school as part of the Health and Social Care A-level programme. This included, designing and delivering lessons in the classroom. My interpersonal, communication, and listening skills have increased. Thus, learning how to resolve conflicts between children in the classroom including those from different cultures and backgrounds. I discovered the importance of how maintaining a fun, safe environment was essential for providing the best opportunity for learning; and how working with children needed to be adaptable to enhance understanding depending on the child's personal abilities and needs.
Furthermore, as mathematics is a fundamental core subject in primary school teaching, my mathematical knowledge can help children comprehend different concepts, such as problem-solving skills.
During work experience, I was given responsibility to mark assessments, mainly mental mathematics every morning and homework most afternoons. This enabled me to identify where children struggled and adapt the learning to focus on their areas of need. I also enjoyed interacting with children of various personalities as this compelled me to use my imagination and creativity to ensure they remained engaged. I am also currently attending a local primary school through our school enrichment programme to teach Spanish lessons where I can broaden my skills adapting to different age groups. This requires me to set clear goals and objectives for pupils to work towards. My teaching includes fun activity sheets, group projects to strengthen social skills, and Spanish bingo/pictured games to engage both auditory and visual learners. Being a member of the girl guide organisation, I experienced positive social relationships which developed my interest to become a Leader. As a role model who now positively leads within Rainbows, I have learnt that leadership is a challenging yet rewarding role which takes both patience and composure. As a compassionate, caring and curious individual I have an empathetic understanding towards those who are sad/unhappy, as well as have the ability to encourage personal goals of individuals.
My Qualifications
I have completed my GCSE’s and Alevels which might not seem like a lot but I guarantee you I would be better than any other babysitter.
