My Summary
About Me
I'm Amanda. I`ve been married to Gary for 16 years, we have two children Chloe aged 19 and Cameron aged 15.
I now have two assistants that work for me Lauren and Sarah they are both level 3 qualified. We also have a Cocker Spaniel called Charlie and a springer spaniel called Max who are both very friendly.
We live near to Crossgates close to all the local ameinities. I have my own car and regularly go to Toddler group and local soft play areas every week and the local library for singing and story time. My house and garden provides a safe secure evironment for children to learn and play. I have a large collection of equipment toys and books to suit all age groups.
Both myself and Gary are CRB checked for Ofsted and Scouts. My daughter is also DBS checked too.
I can provide excellent references from the parents of children past and present that i've looked after.
My Experience
I have 6 years experience as a registered childminder, but have had lots of expereince with children. My parents were foster carers so i have experience with children from different backgrounds and I trained to be nursery nurse after leaving school.
Before becoming a childminder I worked as a dental nurse in Garforth and in that job role i`ve had encountered children of all ages and was able to deal with different types of emotions, behaviour and play.
More recently aswell as continuing to support and nurture my own children I have regularly looked after friends children and help other childminders in the area. I am also involved with the Colton Scout Group helping with fundraising.

I used Amanda for my son the year before he started school, he had a great time and I felt very comfortable leaving him with her in such a lovely setting.

Thank you so much for your very kind words. Hope he’s doing well at school. X
I have been extremely happy with the care my son received whilst with Amanda. Amanda always greats us on a morning welcoming both my son and I into her home. Amanda’s home is always welcoming, clean and well organised and Sam has great fun playing with all the toys available and with the other children in her care. Beyond all this though, it is Amanda’s warm and friendly but no nonsense approach which sets her apart from other childminders we have experienced.
She provides a wide, fun range of activities including plenty of outdoor exercise, much to Sam’s disgust. During the School holidays Amanda joins other childminders and takes the children out for special days to various destinations, last summer they had a picnic and outdoor games day at Temple Newsham.
Amanda is a great communicator and has no trouble in gaining Sam’s confidence and therefore encouraging good behaviour and kindness and compassion to others, both skills which are important to us at home. When Sam steps outside his boundaries she responds with firm but kind discipline explaining what we would like to see in terms which he understands. When he is hurt or feeling under the weather I know that he feels happy to be comforted by her and I am confident that she can administer either first aid or medication following all the correct procedures and completing the necessary records to ensure his health and safety.
Although I provide Sam’s food each day I know that she will provide healthy snacks such as fruit he is exceptionally hungry. I am also aware that Amanda ensures good personal hygiene in encouraging all the children to wash their hands before eating and after using the toilet.
Amanda completes a diary detailing what Sam has done each day and liaises with his teachers on drop off and collection to ensure we have a complete picture of his whole day.
All in all I am thoroughly happy with the level of care Sam receives and I’m certain that being in such a positive and happy environment is helping him develop into a confident and self assured little boy.
I would absolutely recommend Amanda as a great and reliable childminder.
