About Me
We are a couple in our mid-thirties with a 1-year-old son and a second baby due in December, and we are seeking a Mother’s Help to support our growing family through this time.
My Requirements
We are looking for help in the mornings and evenings, to include taking our son to/from nursery and supporting Mum with caring for our newborn & general housekeeping. This would total around 6 hours per day Monday-Friday and more details can be found below, including our preferred hours – though there could be some flexibility in these hours for the right person, subject to being compatible with nursery drop-off and pick-up.
Mum expects to have a planned caesarean birth (likely between 13-20 December) and will be on maternity leave from 9 December. Dad will have a few weeks of paternity leave before returning to work; he works from home most of the time but occasionally needs to travel.
This would be an initial 3-month fixed term contract, though there is potential for the role to evolve into a longer-term position through the remainder of Mum’s maternity leave and possibly beyond.
Morning Responsibilities (7AM-10.30AM):
• Help to get our son ready in the morning and drop him off at nursery
• Provide support to Mum with various tasks, including:
o Newborn care, including feeds, changes, sleep and washing/sterilising bottles
o General housekeeping, including loading/emptying the dishwasher, laundry, tidying, and ironing
o Occasional local errands
Evening Responsibilities (5PM-7.30PM):
• Collect our son from nursery
• Help to entertain and care for our son and/or newborn before dinner
• Support with dinner
o Preparing dinner, or looking after the children whilst Mum or Dad cooks
o Clean up after dinner
• Assist with bath and bedtime routines (if required)
• General housekeeping (as above)
Requirements:
• Competent and safe driver
• Valid DBS check
• Prior experience working with young children and/or relevant qualifications
• Personal qualities: reliable, trustworthy, punctual, flexible and patient
Nice to have:
• Availability for some ad-hoc babysitting (details to be agreed separately)
