My Summary
About Me
I am currently studying two days a week at the University of Bristol and would love to find a family I can work for alongside this. I am outgoing and fun, with a passion for childcare and supporting the whole family when they need me. I love to get out and about with the children, allowing theme to explore their surroundings and begin to understand the world. It is vital for me that all children are seen and heard whilst they are in my care and I pride myself on planning age and capability appropriate activities for all children I care for. I absolutely love working with children of all ages and working together with parents to ensure the kids are supported across all aspects of their childcare. I love animals and nature and am happy working in a home with pets.
My Experience
I lived with a family in Australia as their Au Pair, I worked around 30 hours per with this family, taking care of the children before and after daycare, cooking for the whole family and completing household duties. These children were 3 and 5 years, with one transitioning to primary school and another undergoing play therapy for some challenging behaviours. I am therefore confident in working collaboratively with parents and other childcare professionals to ensure structure and consistency with children throughout their development and any challenges they face.
Whilst in Australia I was also a nanny for another family with younger children, aged 18months and 2.5 years during the day. I would plan age appropriate activities to ensure the children were stimulated and learning through play. It was also important to stick to routine with the younger child, to ensure a smooth handover when the parents returned from work. I also worked with the older child who struggled with a speech delay. Through constant communication and activities his speech improved drastically throughout the time I cared for him.
I have also volunteered in a preschool, preparing children for their transition into primary school. It was important here to work with the children to form friendships and gain more independence and confidence ready for primary school.
Lastly, I volunteered in my old primary school, returning at 18 to assist in a year 3 class. I built strong relationships with the children, gaining their trust and being a role model for them to look up to. I enjoyed working 1-1 with a child with special educational needs and celebrating even the smallest milestones, ensuring every child was seen and valued.
