My Summary
About Me
My name is Wendy, and I am 32 years old, and even though I have no direct qualifications around child minding or childcare, I do have a BA honours degree in health and social care, children and families, and I am currently completing a fast track social worker Post Graduate Degree.
I have 2 children of my own one a teenager and one at primary school age, and have been fortunate enough to have the joy of both a boy and a girl.
I am hard working, honest, reliable, and I am able to build good relationships with children of all ages, and children who have a range of needs.
I am looking to work with families on AD HOC days.
My Experience
Apart from the experience with my own two children, which one of them being a very 'easy' child, and the other child being rather difficult with her behaviours, I also have personal experience with my niece who is autistic (high functioning) and ADHD. I have supported my sister through the diagnosis process, and completing relevent forms to ensure financially my niece is getting what she is entitled to.
Professionally from the age of 18 years I have worked with vulnerable adults who needed supported with their daily lives. In 2014 I spent some time working with adults with additional needs starting from a support worker (carer) to a manager of my own home.
Since 2021 I have worked in a residential children home, working with children specifically from the age of 12 and upwards who have additional and complex needs. Alongside this role I also worked in a range of schools as an agency SEND TA/ behaviour management for children with learning needs, additional needs and behaviour problems.
I have been in lots of situations with the children and young people I have supported professionally and personally, from removal from their family, supporting family time, health appointments, behaviour management, toileting, feeding, bathing etc and teaching them how to do this independently. I've supporting young people into routines, and build up their independent skills ready for adulthood.
