My Summary
I’m Fairly New To Child Care, But It’s So Much Fun; And I Hope To Foster Or Adopt In The Future.
About Me
While I am new and still learning about child care, I get on well with children, with a focus on having fun (especially when learning), building trust, and treating each other with respect.
That’s not to say the children can do anything they want, we all have responsibilities, and I’ll explain why, even if it’s so tempting to just say “because I told you to”.
My Experience
Since 2018 I’ve been running several Code Clubs for 8 to 12 year olds via Bristol Libraries (where the children have a wide range of skills); I really enjoy having days out with my 9 year old niece; and I take any chance I can to see my friends 1 year old daughter (we’re currently learning colours; without any prompting she said “blue-green” for something turquoise, and I think I prefer her answer).
For children with special needs, I have a fairly mild form of Dyslexia, I remember being told I was lazy (despite how hard I tried). If your child has special needs, I can work with them, show them work arounds (life cheats), and provide more focus on their own skills (super powers) so they feel confident and proud.
While I have a *lot* of experience cleaning up poop, that was from my previous elderly dog, and then from my foster (now adopted) “puppy”; despite all of this, I’ve not changed a babies nappy yet, but “how hard could that be” (don’t worry, I’ve heard the stories, especially from my partner who used to work at a nursery, but I would still appreciate any pointers and training you can give).
My Qualifications
None yet - but I am currently working on becoming a registered childminder (via the Ofsted recognised "Introductory Training Course" by ChildmindingUK); and while I’ve recently done a 2 hour First Aid course, I will be renewing my First Aid qualification (i.e. via an officially recognised provider).
My Availability
I’m a freelance programmer who can choose my own working hours, which can be overnight (avoiding distractions); but I currently have Code Clubs on Wed/Thur (so I’m normally unavailable between 4pm and 8pm).

My Fees
- Babysitting from £9.00 per hour
This seems to be the lowest rate I can set, even though UK Apprenticeship rate is £7.55. I’m mostly here for experience; but I don’t want to undercut people who do this for their job.
My Local Schools
- I provide drop offs and pick ups at Lyde Green Primary School
- I provide drop offs and pick ups at Mangotsfield Church of England Primary School
My Documents
- DBS Check (added 25/02/2025)
- UK Driving Licence (added 04/11/2024)
- First Aid Certificate: Basic 2 hour Paediatric First Aid (added 31/03/2025)
