About Me
I am an enthusiastic and empathetic 23 year old from New Zealand, who has recently moved to Edinburgh to travel and gain more life experience! I have a two year Youth Mobility Visa and am excited to explore and live in Scotland.
While in New Zealand, I worked full time in clinical research for 2.5-3 years after completing my bachelors in Biochemistry and Biology. During university, I gained skills through a wide range of part time jobs including nannying, tutoring, equestrian coaching and evening managing a turkey farm. All of these study and work positions have moulded me into a driven and dedicated young woman. I have gained a great sense of purpose and perspective through my medical research, as well as volunteering at my local pony club in NZ, teaching young children how to ride horses.
I grew up on a farm with a large family and a wide range of animals so I love nature and keeping myself busy! This upbringing helped me to have a relaxed attitude so I don't get flustered easily!
My Experience
During university, I had a full time temp nanny position for a couple of months during the school holidays and the start of the school term. In this role I cared for two children aged 6 and 8 years old. This was only a temporary position as I was filling in while the family's usual nanny was away. This position involved all of the standard roles of a carer, including food preparation, school pick up and drop off, bedtime routines, homework encouragement, and full days of outings and home care.
I gained a lot of great experience and skills during this brief role, which prepared me immensely for my following positions; tutoring children between the ages of 5 and 18 years old in maths, english and science, and coaching children as young as 5 years old in horse riding.
I held 3 positions during the entirety of my study period (tutor, equestrian coach, and labourer), while also being a heavily involved senior member of my local pony club. For the last 7 years, I have helped to look after the younger members of the club, while also running activities/events for them to enjoy. I continued to volunteer at my club following university, while I was working full time in clinical research.
My Qualifications
I have a Bachelor of Science double majoring in Biochemistry and Biology.
My Availability
I am available for full time work throughout the week. I am planning to travel so may be away on some weekends but can be available for weekends and evenings in some circumstances!
