Dear Host family,
My name is Abbie and I am 19 years old. I come from Glasgow, Scotland, where I live with my mother Michelle and my older brother Stephen, who is 20. We are a close-knit family and enjoy sharing our daily experiences and going out to restaurants together on special occasions.
I recently completed my studies in social sciences at college, as it has always been a subject of interest to me. Now that I have finished college, I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work as an au pair in Italy from September 2023 to December 2023. I am excited to travel, meet new people, learn about different cultures, and broaden my experiences. Traveling has always been a passion of mine, and living abroad has been a dream of mine for a long time. Additionally, I have always been ambitious about going backpacking, as I believe there is something special about exploring the world.
In terms of my personality, I would describe myself as well-mannered, friendly, open-minded, and fun. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym as I appreciate the discipline it brings and its positive impact on my mental and physical health. I consider myself to be a sporty person, having participated in various sports when I was younger, and I still enjoy activities.
I have always been a helpful member of my family, often offering to look after my younger cousins when needed. I have done this on many occasions and enjoy playing games with them and making them snacks. Being like a big sister to your children comes with responsibilities, and I am ready and aware of the duties that come with it.
My Experience
I was previously a au pair in Milan for a family with 4 kids.I was responsible for providing childcare and household support. This included creating a safe and engaging environment for the children, supervising their activities, and ensuring their well-being at all times. I actively participated in their daily routines, including meal preparation, bathing, and bedtime routines. I also ran errands and managed the children's schedules, ensuring they attended school, extracurricular activities, and appointments on time. Throughout my time as an au pair, I developed strong bonds with the children and their family fostering a positive and supportive relationship. I embraced cultural exchange opportunities, sharing my own traditions and learning about theirs. Overall, my experience as an au pair has made me grow as person and has provided me long term skills and insights after the experience
