My Summary

My Experience

As a research assistant at the Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education, I have learned extensively about various education philosophies and pedagogies, and I have designed and supported the delivery of professional development workshops for kindergarten teachers. These workshops covered effective instructional design strategies, including classroom environment planning and play strategies, benefiting over 25 teachers and 100 children. I have also developed and implemented a new English curriculum for participating kindergartens, focusing on developing students' print recognition, conversational skills, and engagement.

My qualifications include a Diploma in Special Needs Education, which has equipped me with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively support students with diverse needs. I am also proficient in various communication strategies and intervention methods, including visual aids, social stories, and sensory integration. I am also committed to engaging in further professional development to enhance my skill sets and to keep myself updated on the latest pedagogies.

I have numerous first-hand experiences working with students with SENs, ranging from kindergarten to college-aged students. My job as a research assistant required me to interact with and assess kindergarten children of various abilities and socio-economic backgrounds, which has given me precious opportunities to work closely with a wide range of students. Also, at my previous job in an NGO as well as my community service, I have developed and organized events for over 200 students with SENs, providing support through giving interpretation services, mobility assistance, and preparing additional learning materials. I am highly passionate about creating inclusive learning environments and empowering underprivileged students, and my ability to establish positive relationships with students has been consistently recognized by both students and colleagues.
