My Summary
About Me
My name is Tori and I love everything creative including arts and crafts as well as reading. Recently, I made the difficult decision to drop out of university. This choice was not made lightly, but it has provided me with the opportunity to refocus my efforts on improving my well-being and discovering the path that truly aligns with my passions and strengths. During this period of transition, I have realized the importance of mental and physical health, not just for myself but for those around me. I am planning to take this time off and pursue university in September 2025. My time away from university has also reinforced my family-oriented nature. I am now ready to embrace new opportunities and challenges, with a renewed sense of purpose and clarity.
My Experience
I have babysat children of different ages – 10, 4 and 7 years old. These are within my family and a family friend. Having such a variety of age some different responsibilities and challenges require careful planning and adaptability for each age group. My main responsibility was to keep the children safe at all times whilst in my care this includes knowing allergies and dietary restrictions. Keeping a close eye on the younger children to prevent accidents that could happen.
A big responsibility was making sure the children were fed, I would say I am a good cook and can cater to the children’s needs as I am a picky eater. The youngest I’ve babysat is a family friend's child aged 4 who has been potty trained, but I am capable of dealing with hygiene including changing any nappies if need be. Routine and structure an important parts of children’s lives so making sure they follow meal times at their usual times and bedtime schedules I find to be important as has helped a lot when I’m babysitting my sister overnight.
The activities that I do with them are different, with someone who is 10 like my sister we tend to do more chilled-out activities such as watching a movie or drawing whereas my family friends' children would much prefer a craft task and playing outside. I often help my parents or family friends with looking after them in instances such as picking them up from school due to being late home from work or running errands and keeping them entertained until they can come and collect. Creativity is an important part of my life, and I like to incorporate it into my activities with the children. I know creative play and imaginary play are important and I like to work that into activities too such as playing with dinosaurs, babies or Legos’.
