My Summary
About Me
Hi my name is Phoebe and I am a registered Nurse with a Doula certificate
I enjoy the outcome of empowering women in their right of choices in childbirth and this has led me down the path of becoming a doula.
I am also able to support parents with children up to the age of 14 with Nanny duties.
My Experience
My background is in Nursing and I have worked in Perinatal Mental health for 10 years. I have seen the big difference that support for a woman’s mental health and wellbeing during her maternal period can make to her antenatally and postnatally.
I've worked on mother and baby units, so I have built up the ability to multitask but also so pay attention when it's required.
It’s important that every woman is given the opportunity to be educated about their bodies and also to prepare mentally, emotionally and physically.
I support all types of deliveries, including home birth, as this according to research is the safest place, both physically and emotionally.
Within my professional role as a perinatal mental health nurse, I have undertaken training to offer trauma-informed care in the perinatal period, including supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse, giving birth after previous birth trauma, postnatal depression etc.
I have experience in supporting women with anxiety as well as primary and secondary tokophobia.
The first stage I would recommend is an initial meeting to discuss your pregnancy, how it’s going and what you’re looking for in a doula.
If you feel we are a good match, then we can start planning on how to guide and support you as you navigate pregnancy and prepare for your birth.
• Antenatally, I can offer education, helping you explore your hopes and fears, navigate the maternity care systems and to know what support is available pertaining your needs. We can discuss birth vision, birth team building, postnatal planning, relaxation exercises, bodywork, etc.
• During labour and birth , I provide emotional and practical support, comfort measures, and if needed I will advocate for you, working with your birth partner if available
• Postnatally I offer practical and emotional support as you adjust to life with a new baby. This includes, night time support, infant feeding support, preparing food for you, light domestic tasks, a listening ear/emotional support, holding baby whilst you nap or shower, and postnatal bodywork for you.
I am a Christian and my spiritual beliefs are important to me, if you would like to explore yours we can also discuss. It will be such a privilege to do this journey with you.
