About Me
Hello! My name is Laura Appleby, and I’m a 37-year-old mum living in Colchester with my partner and our two lovely daughters, aged 4 and 3. Becoming a parent has been the most rewarding experience of my life, and it’s what inspired me to change careers and become a registered childminder.
I’ve spent many years working as a HR Director in large corporate organisations, so I truly understand the challenges that working parents face—especially when it comes to finding flexible, reliable childcare. My goal is to offer a warm, caring, and supportive home-from-home environment where children can feel happy, safe, and thrive while their parents are at work.
Whether it’s exploring through play, enjoying the outdoors, or learning new things, I’m passionate about creating a fun, nurturing space that supports each child’s development and individual needs.
My Experience
As a mum to two young daughters, I understand how important it is for children to feel safe, loved, and supported in their early years. Inspired by my own parenting journey, I decided to retrain as a childminder and create a nurturing home-from-home environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
To prepare for this new chapter, I’ve completed a comprehensive range of professional training. My qualifications include:
Paediatric First Aid
Safeguarding Children & Designated Safeguarding Lead
Understanding & Working with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Developing Children’s Learning
Recording Children’s Development
Leading and Managing a Childcare Setting
These have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support children’s development holistically—emotionally, socially, and educationally. I’m currently awaiting my Ofsted registration visit and look forward to officially welcoming little ones into my care soon.
I’m committed to creating a calm, stimulating setting where children feel valued, and parents feel confident that their child is in safe and capable hands.

I’m happy to discuss individual needs and do my best to accommodate early drop-offs, later pick-ups, and part-time or full-time care. My goal is to support working families by providing dependable, high-quality childcare that fits around their schedule.
