About Me

I am a warm and empathetic individual with 2 years SEN experience, specialising in DLD and communication difficulties. I have worked with children age 1-18 in both school, nursery and private settings. My enthusiasm for education is reflected in my first-class honours degree in Zoology (BSc), and I am keen to assist with homework and learning opportunities—especially when it comes to science!

With a Level 2 qualification in counselling skills, I bring a trauma-informed approach to my work, responding with patience, active listening, and an understanding of each child’s unique needs. Whether providing academic support, emotional regulation strategies, or simply creating a safe and fun environment, I tailor my approach to suit the child and family I am working with. I also believe that a sense of humour and a positive attitude are invaluable when working with children, helping to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere where they feel safe and supported.

I am passionate about fostering confidence, resilience, and independence in young people, and I would love the opportunity to support your family. Please feel free to reach out to discuss how I can help meet your child’s needs.

My Experience

I am a dedicated and compassionate professional with extensive experience supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs. With both personal and professional experience working with children and young people from 1 to 18 years old, I am able to provide care for a range of ages and needs. I am committed to creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging environment where every child can thrive.

I have worked in schools, colleges, and nurseries, supporting children and young people with ADHD, autism, and many other neurodivergent needs. In my most recent role, I have been supporting children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) for over two years, giving me significant experience working with children who have communication difficulties. I am well-versed in Makaton, the use of visual aids, and other forms of non-verbal communication. My experience includes one-on-one support for children with high emotional and behavioural needs, as well as group settings where I implement strategies to promote emotional regulation, communication, and positive behaviour. In my previous role, I frequently collaborated with therapists (speech and language, occupational, psychotherapy, and play therapy), counsellors, and other specialists to ensure holistic support.

Most commonly, I have worked with children in KS1 and KS2, supporting their education as a Specialist Teaching Assistant. I bring patience, empathy, and enthusiasm to my work, helping children feel confident in their learning and encouraging them to embrace mistakes as part of the learning process.
