About Me
Hi I'm Michelle the online art tutor for Colora Art Tutoring providing art and Wellbeing/ art sessions to children aged 5-14 years. Art sessions follow a theme each term such as a topic or specific art culture and children can use various materials to create their art pieces. Art sessions are taught either in groups or as 1.1 and are very relaxed to ensure the child can work step by step with myself or if in a group, they don't have to feel rushed as they can go along as a group.
Wellbeing/ art sessions teach children to recognise, understand and manage emotional literacy through film and art. Each term focuses on a different emotion where children will learn to recognise facial expressions and body language in themselves and others and also how each emotion makes us feel inside. Alongside this children will watch clips from a film to see if they can recognise how characters act when they are feeling a certain emotion and identifying triggers and solutions to manage how they are feeling. Each session has an art activity connected to the emotion.
My Experience
Hi I'm Michelle and I have worked in Education for over 18 years specialising in Art, children and young peoples mental health, ASD and SEN. I started my journey many years ago studying Art at various levels acquiring a Distinction in many of the subjects which included life drawing. I then progressed into education combining training with children with SEN specifically ASD and behaviour management. I have worked closely with children in a classroom environment and teaching whole classes as well as 1.1 in mainstream schools' whilst also training with psychologists to be able to teach children particularly those with SEN how to recognise, understand and manage emotional literacy. I then focused on supporting children and young people with mental health and worked for a Family counselling service providing emotional support using a form of art therapy to help children make sense and communicate about emotions to others. After 18 years I then set up Colora Art tutoring to specifically focus on Art and Wellbeing with art to support children who struggle with emotions whether that is schooled or home educated children.

£10 for 20 minutes( Young children, older children and young adults with high level of SEN)
£15 for 30 minutes
