Am a student nurse and I’ve been baby sitting for 3 years now although I haven’t got a certificate in it but I did access to healthcare, I’ve looked after childcare with special needs, new born different ages
When I first started babysitting, I was nervous but excited. One of my first regular jobs was looking after two siblings, a five-year-old boy and his two-year-old sister. The first day was a whirlwind — they were full of energy, and it took all my creativity to keep up with them Babysitting taught me patience, quick thinking, and how to stay calm when things didn’t go according to plan — and honestly, I think it also taught me how to be a better listener and problem-solver.
Looking back, those evenings spent playing, comforting, and laughing with the kids are some of my favorite memories. Babysitting wasn’t just a job — it felt like being part of a second family.
My Experience
As a babysitter, I’ve had the opportunity to care for children of various ages, from infants to pre-teens. Each experience taught me something new about patience, communication, and creativity. I’ve planned fun activities like arts and crafts, outdoor games, and educational exercises to keep the kids engaged. I looked after my cousins and my younger brother who’s autistic, also handled basic responsibilities like preparing meals, helping with homework, changing diapers, and sticking to bedtime routine
