My Summary
About Me
I have been an Ofsted registered childminder since November 2000 and a PACEY ‘Quality Assured Childminder’ since 2009 [see below]. I previously placed my own two young sons with childminders while I worked both in London and locally. I have strong family ties and take a keen interest in children's development; I hope also that you will find me reliable, honest, flexible and trustworthy at all times.
The family moved to Allington from East Malling in 1999 to provide a more spacious and safe environment for our two young children. The family is completed by my husband, Ian who is also an Ofsted registered childminder and met the standards of a PACEY ‘Quality Assured Childminder’ several years ago. All family members have been CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) and DBS checked.
The setting also includes 'Belle', the Cocker Spaniel, who is now 7 years old and has grown up, from 12 weeks old, with children in the setting. All the children love Belle and interact well with her but she spends most of the day separate from them after then arrive.
The setting itself is ideal for childminding, being set in a cul-de-sac with a small local park nearby and other larger parks within easy reach; the property has an established garden with a playhouse and plenty of scope for supervised exploration for inquisitive young minds. There is plenty to keep those minds occupied inside too.
Included within the setting is a dedicated nursery room and two guest rooms which are suitable for different ages of children (in the case of naps, later evening pick-ups or 'registered' overnight care).
A great asset that I also have is that Ian is around, as another registered childminder, to work as a back-up and support for pick-ups, drop-offs, sickness and emergencies. It allows me to provide a full and very flexible service which has the minimum disruption to children and their families in my care.
My Experience
Registered since November 2000, I have had the pleasure of caring for a wide range of children: Ages from newborn to 13 - some of the children have been with me since young babies and stayed through to their school years or left when moving from the area; older children are more like long-term friends and still pop by sometimes to see what's cooking?
Cultural differences - we've enjoyed sharing and learning about different cultures with our children and families, through cultural differences, language, food and experiences; the home has souvenirs from Germany, Jordan, Ireland, Morocco, Poland, Japan, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, US, South Africa, etc. and we've tasted, and cooked, some exciting (and unusual) foods from different continents. We try to recognise different festivals and share them in a fun way with an emphasis on fun and creativity but with a shared awareness of community.
I have a clear focus on equal opportunity for all children and try always to promote a respectful understanding of all levels of disability. Over the years in childminding I have cared for a number of children with varying degrees of disability, from mild developmental challenges to more extreme demands for constant care and supervision. Ian and I are always happy to discuss individual needs and to improve and learn in areas which we may not be fully accustomed.
Families/siblings - I have enjoyed several experiences of twins and siblings and have never really experienced any problems integrating them into the childminding setting with other children in my care. I feel that the setting provides equally for different age groups and having a mutual respect amongst all the children means that they all integrate well.
Short-term care - from time to time, I have been asked to provide short-term care for children and their families (eg, to cover for other childminders, hospital care, maternity, family emergency, pre-planned family events, etc.).
Overnight and 'term' care - Ian and I are both registered and inspected to provide overnight care. The setting has a dedicated nursery room with a cot bed and two other rooms for different ages of children. Where agreed, we can also provide longer-term care or more than one night, especially in cases of family emergency with children who are already in our care. This may also include 'respite' care.
Our own experience of long and unsociable working hours with our own children has helped us to understand the needs of others who find themselves with similar working situations and irregular hours, etc.
Both Ian and myself have up-to-date paediatric first aid qualifications.
My Qualifications
Both Ian and myself are Ofsted registered and members of PACEY. We are inspected by Ofsted (the most recent inspection being May 2022) where the outcome was awarded a 'Good' in all areas for both of us. Reports are available on request.
All registered childminders need to have attended and successfully completed introductory childminding courses and regular refresher courses in paediatric first aid and other areas of childcare (eg, safeguarding). This is the bare minimum but we try to take the opportunity to get involved with additional workshops and training where we feel it will benefit the setting.
We have both completed the NVQ2 and NVQ3 in Childcare Learning & Development.
Both myself and Ian were Quality Assured Childminders with PACEY (this was previously terms as 'Accredited Childminders'). This quality assurance scheme meant that we underwent additional inspections from our Quality Improvement Partner but due to the lack of funding this has now changed and we now come under the larger envelope of Eligible Childminders (these are childminders who are eligible to claim the funding for children in childcare over the age of 30 months).
We also both offer 'Free For 2' places under the 'Free For 2' Scheme with Kent County Council.
My Availability
The setting tries to offer the maximum availability and flexibility, having had experience of working with a wide range of families and professions (single parents, police, medical, education, business travel, etc.). We don't offer a 'menu' of options, we offer a fully tailored service which we hope to gear to the requirements of children and their families. We appreciate that these may change from time to time depending on family commitments.
We try to always provide a family setting, so it hasn't been difficult to react to emergencies since children in our regular care see this as familiar surroundings. We have even had children with us over the Christmas holiday (including Christmas Day) and in continuous care for a number of days while parents have been away on business. Overnight care registration has helped us to be able to provide this (please see 'my experience' - above).
We currently don't cover any school runs on a regular basis, but this doesn't mean that we won't be able to help in the case of emergency or one-off requirements.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £12.50 per hour
- Childminding from £5.55 per hour
Fee calculation is based around some flexible criteria:
- single child or siblings
- provision by the setting of healthy meals/snacks
- contracted hours/days
- reduced hourly rates for overnight care/'term' care
As a general guide the base hourly ‘daytime’ rate is £5.50. Some families on contracted childcare are happier to average out contracted hours over the year and pay a fixed monthly amount.
Overnight care is usually calculated differently and by discussion and negotiation, based on any specific needs you may have.
Payment is made on the last contracted working day of the month (in arrears) and childcare vouchers are accepted as part or full payment. A payment deposit of 2 weeks will usually be required prior to the commencement of childcare.
The setting provides day-to-day care items (eg, baby wipes, nappy bags, gloves, tissues, etc.). Normally, families will provide nappies, change of clothes and bottles of milk, etc. This is all by arrangement and discussion and geared to work flexibly to suit all parties' needs.
My Local Schools
This childminder has not yet informed us whether or not they provide any drop off or pick up services at local schools.
My Ofsted Inspections
The inspection grades below have been obtained from the Ofsted website based upon the registration number the childminder has provided to us. You should verify this information yourself prior to using the childminder.

Jacqueline as the main care worker, joined by her husband Ian, looked after my little one since she was only 10 months old, for over a year. Due to the nature of the job, I had to leave the baby with them Monday to Friday five days a week, and very often in the evenings as well when I had to work overseas.. They treated my little one as part of the family. There were challenging occasions when the babe was not well, and I couldn’t be around, Jacqueline really ran for an extra mile, she called the doctor and allowed me to continue with my work. That I am very grateful for, leaving alone the lovely birthday, mother’s day and Christmas presents.
It’s a shame that I changed the job and moved out of Maidstone in December, or I’d be happy to continue to work with Jacqueline. I’d highly recommend this setting.

I've contacted Jacqueline in July 2018, we've arranged first meeting to discuss everything. The setting, Jacqueline and her husband Ian were lovely. As it was all positive we've decided that we would like Jacqueline to look after our little one. We've met for a second time to confirm our situation and when we could start. We also filled all the forms, signed the contract and confirmed that we will give an exact time after our holidays mid of September. As discussed as soon as we came back from holidays I've e-mailed Jacqueline with exact date and she confirmed how the first days will look like. On 11th of October ( 4 days before agreed our sons 1st day with Jacqueline ) I've sent her an e-mail to ask if we can meet on Saturday to discuss exact time and confirm once again eveything that we've agreed before. You can only imagine how shocked I was, when I got the response, that unfortunately there is no availability! Jacqueline wrote, that she sent me a text ( 4 days after we were e-mailing and confirming everything ) and she didn't receive a response, so she assumed that we are no longer interested. Shame that the text was never received and if we were on the stage that all paperwork was signed, we were always contacting via e-mails I would be contacted via the e-mail again. However I wasn't and I was left with Good Luck. Now we were put in the position that both of us working & all recommended childminders have no availability ( that's why we were sorting it out in July!!). It's extremelly unprofessional and I'm still shocked. It's really a shame as I wouldn't say a bad word about what we saw on the meetings and I was really looking forward for my son to be joining Jacqueline's setting.

Our son had such a fantastic time with Jaqueline. The setting was great and well equipped. We received pictures and books that showed our sons progress and everything that he had learnt. i couldn't have asked for more from a childminder!
He was well cared for and he became a confident little boy. He was well prepared for when he started school as Jaqueline ensured that our son understood what was to be expected of him when he started.

Jaqueline Ian and Jack have looked after our daughter since she was a year old. She has absolutely flourished in their care which we were flexible with, building up her time away from home over a few weeks until she was there full time 5 days a week. The care provided by Jaqueline and her family allowed me the confidence to return to work without worrying whether my daughter was OK. They kept in regular the text/call contact in the early days without being asked to which was very reassuring. Since then her daily log book has been extremely helpful in communicating things like eat and sleep routines while we have been at work. They have helped massively with potty training and have kept detailed Early Years Learning records for us as well as descriptive photo book records of all he activities our daughter has been taking part in. We have never felt like we have missed anything in our daughters development. Furthermore they have offered us useful advice when needed and this ebabled us to apply the same techniques in our home setting.
Both my husband and I work in London and Jaqueline and Ian have always been extremely helpful and flexible when necessary with drop off and pick up times, again going above and beyond for us.
Lastly we wanted to say that Jaqueline Ian and Jack have become family to us and we would not trust anyone else with our little ones.
We are extremely sad to have very recently moved away for husbands work but can say without a doubt that were we still living in Maidstone, our children would still be under their outstanding care.

When we were looking for a childminder for our son, we really wanted to find someone who would make him feel at home.
The first time we met Jacqueline and her family, we knew we'd be happy there. Her home is extremely welcoming and child-centric. There are loads of great toys, books and activities to entertain the children.
We are so happy that Danny is being exposed to different social environments on a daily basis.
I can more than recommend this childminder!
