My Summary
About Me
My name is Katherine Mills and I am a childminder graded as OUTSTANDING in all areas at my last inspection by Ofsted in September 2024. I live in a quiet cul-de-sac in Totteridge with my husband and two teenage children. We have two cats called Dexter and Pablo but no other pets.
I have a dedicated playroom with a wide range of resources covering every area of learning, for every age and stage. I plan additional activities daily following the children’s interests and next steps within the curriculum and using the best style of learning for the individual child.
We also go out on trips to local parks, woods and toddler groups. I have a safe, enclosed large patio/astroturf area attached to the house which the children have access to most of the time with a teepee, ride-ons, slide, basketball, small tyres for building/rolling and sand and water also a large lawn area for running around on and playing parachute games. This year I’ve also added a new nature area with mud kitchen for making mud pies, growing herbs, bug hunts and a music wall.
I have a holistic approach and strongly believe that children need to feel safe, comfortable, loved and valued in order for them to learn. I promote good manners, respect and resilience. We recognise, respect, accept and celebrate our differences.
I use a combination of child and adult led activities with a strong emphasis on communication and language as this underpins all other areas of learning.

My son Oliver has been with Katherin since he was 18months old, in nappies, drinking bottles and having naps. Now he is 4 and starting school in September.
Katherin has always been reliable, never let me down and has always been very flexible.
Oliver has always enjoyed going to Katherins and has made lots of friends. He always tells me how much he has enjoyed himself, and Kathrin sends me lots of photos, which is lovely to see.
Katherin has a lovely outdoor space with lots of different toys, and often fills activity trays with themed things to do such as sea and sand and cars. They do lots of trips to local parks and outdoor activities. Katherin plans activities and creative fun learning to ensure Oliver is achieving his development targets for his age range. Katherin has a fantastic routine with the children, the setting is lovely and also James, Leah and Danny are also brilliant with Oliver, James may even dress up as Santa and do a Visit at Christmas.
Oliver has had an amazing time with Katherin the past 3 years, it will be really sad when he leaves but I am so grateful and feel so lucky to have met Katherin.
My daughter has been with Katherine since she was 2 years old and she has absolutely loved being looked after by her. As a Covid baby, I was anxious about the settling process but Katherine put us both at such ease and as a result the transition went perfectly. It has made going back to work so much easier knowing she is in such safe hands. My daughter is always happy and excited to be spending the day at Katherine’s and loves seeing all her friends there. Katherine has provided a very caring, supportive and fun home-from-home environment in which my daughter has thrived. Katherine’s communication has always been excellent, with both children and parents, the children have a wide variety of activities during the day including plenty of time outside as well as plenty of activities to develop important Early Years skills. I highly recommend Katherine for anyone looking for top quality, reliable, caring childminding in the Wycombe area. My daughter (and I!) will be sad to move on when she starts school in September!
Our son has been going to Katherine for just under a year and he loves it! Katherine does a wide range of activities with him and really supports his development. Katherine has always been flexible with our needs. She keeps a detailed diary of what our son has done that day which is lovely to be able to read and talk about with him. My son has a food allergy and Katherine has always managed this perfectly. Most important of all is I know my son is being cared for in a way which I would care for him myself and I can go to work with complete peace of mind. I can't recommend Katherine highly enough and feel very lucky to have found her!
We are really happy with the service Katherine provides. Our little one has never been very happy in big crowds of people so I didn't think it was appropriate to send him to nursery. Katherine has a lovely house with a wide selection of toys. While it has been difficult to return to work I am very safe in the knowledge that out little one is safe and in a lovely family environment.
Our little one started with Katherine when he was just under one and he has developed so much. He loves the interaction with Katherine's own children as well as the other children she looks after. It has really helped to develop his social skills.
Katherine is very calm and adaptable in meeting the needs of the children she looks after. She takes them to a range of toddler groups and provides lots of photos so you don't feel like you are missing out. She also provides good feedback at the end of each day on your child. The children are all provided with very healthy food and snacks. She also is very flexible when you need to work additional hours or change days.
Sadly we will be moving soon and I know our little one will miss Katherine and her children who have become his little playmates. I highly recommend Katherine for proving great childcare.
Our son has been with Katherine since he was one. He settled in quickly and has always enjoyed his days with Katherine. There's a fantastic balance of activities, craft and play. Weather permitting the kids are encouraged and love to play in the garden or down at the park.
Katherine prepares a good meal for him every evening and he gets to sit down and eat it with the family which is something we can't do during the week due to work commitments. Katherine also keeps a detailed daily log which documents all his activities and achievements for the day.
Katherine's kids are lovely and make great play mates for our son who has benefitted greatly from spending time with them. Katherine is also the only person he'll allow to cut his nails! Katherine's partner is also great with the kids and is equally helpful - even dropping of left-behind teddies after hours!
Katherine is organised, affable and very accommodating. She gives plenty of notice of holidays etc and has always helped is out when we needed some extra cover. We'd have no hesitation in recommending her.
