About Me
My name is Karen, I have been an Ofsted registered childminder for 16 years.
I am a member of Pacey (Professional Association for Childminders and Early Years) and am also registered to take childcare vouchers. I have two children of my own, Ella 18 years and Harvey 16 years.
I have experienced both sides of childcare having used a wonderful childminder when I worked full time in London - who I am still very close to today. So I know how important it is to find the right person to take care of your child. Knowing that they are happy, secure, safe and stimulated within a loving family environment makes all the difference!
With this in mind I work very hard to promote positive experiences for the children ensuring they are stimulated whilst in my care. We attend various local playgroups, parks, venturing further afield during school holidays to the seaside, zoo. Other local attractions we visit are Duxford and Hatfield forest among others. I have a secure garden with toys and a trampoline plus a fully equipped play room packed with things to do, arts and crafts, paints, puzzles, lego, Duplo blocks, dress up, computer access, wii and Vtech educational console for when the great British weather decides to misbehave!!
I work other registered childminders which allows us to share resources and keep up to date with the latest Ofsted requirements. Our close working relationship also helps if emergency cover is needed too.
It’s a pleasure to watch the children in my care grow and develop into happy and healthy individuals. This is managed by encouraging educational learning through play, social interactions within their local environment and emotional development with others. I also have a good knowledge and understanding of early years development which I feel helps me improve my setting on a daily basis.
Plus the children never want to leave so I think that is the best endorsement of all!!!
My Experience
I have cared for numerous families throughout my 16 years in childminding, children from the ages of 6 months to 11 years.
I am very close to many of the families I have cared for in the past and at present who would be happy to provide references should you need them.

My Fees
- Nursery work from £12.50 per hour
I am registered with various childcare voucher schemes.
I offer funded places too.
I do not provide food, but happy to serve food from child’s home.
I charge £6.50 per hour for full time care & before and after school care.

Karen Looked after my 1 year old son for 2 days a week and I felt very satisfied that he was in a safe, happy and stimulating environment. After the initial settling in period my son would look forward to going to Karen's which made me feel much easier about leaving him. She would take him to a group so he could socialise with children of a similar age. She is very good at gaging the needs of the individual child and attending to them.
As I am self employed I often needed extra adhoc hours and Karen was very accommodating to my childcare needs. She always managed to fit us in for extra days when I need them.
Karen does a daily journal for each child so the parents can see what the child has been up to. It always contains pictures of what they've been doing. I really enjoyed reading it after each session.
I would not hesitate to recommend Karen as a childminder.
Overall
Karen looked after our baby girl from when she was 6 months old for two days a week. Our little one loved the time spent with Karen which was always full of playing and learning. Karen's daily diary gave us detailed descriptions and photos of the activities undertaken and key milestones in our little ones progress.
Karen works with other childminders and has a great support network in place to cover holidays or sickness. We found Karen to be very flexible and reliable and have no hesitation in recommending her.
Our daughter also adored Karen's two children who are an absolute credit to her. We recently moved and I was lucky enough to reduce my working week otherwise our daughter would still be with Karen. If circumstances change in the future we would have no hesitation in contacting Karen again.

Overall
Karen has cared for my son for the past year and he is always very happy in her company. The daily diary we are given with pictures of our little monkey having fun is fantastic and really reassuring that he is not only busy but very content while we are working. I am always amazed by how much they get up to in just 4 hours a day.
Karen is very reliable and has a close network of friends who are also childminders. They have a wonderful arrangement where they help cover for each other in cases of sickness or other unplanned absence which provides excellent levels of continuity for working parents.
I can only recommend Karen to the highest level. A really warm, friendly, reliable childminder.

Overall
Karen is a fantastic childminder and has looked after our daughter for nearly 4 years since she was 9 months old. She provides a wonderful home from home setting, is a genuine, reliable and caring childminder who blends fun days out, activities and learning to support pre-school years.
She provides a wonderful daily diary with photographs of all of the things that they have been up to in the day and as a full time working mum, I love reading it everyday, knowing that our little girl has been having lots of fun and is well cared for in a loving family environment. It's like being part of the family!!
Karen is highly recommended.
