About Me

I'm Chelsey-Marie, I'm 33, married and have one child. I live in Merstham with my husband and our little boy! Our House is a 10 minute walk from Merstham Train Station, which has direct links to Central London, and also a 5 minute drive from both the M23 and M25. We are a 10 minute walk from Merstham Primary School, Furzefield School and the Red Oak Children's Centre, all of which I am potentially able to do drops-offs to and pick-ups from. I do not drive so drops-offs to and pick-ups from elsewhere are unfortunately not possible.

I attended St. Bede's School and Sixth Form in Redhill between 2001 and 2008 where I achieved 10 GCSE's (including English, Maths, French, Spanish and Child Development), 1 AS Level (in Graphics) and 3 A-Levels (in Health and Social Care, Sociology and History).

I have been registered for approximately 11 years, spending some of that time working alongside my mum, who was also an Ofsted Registered Childminder.

I enjoy keeping busy with the children and like to make the most of local activities and facilities including parks, lakes and green spaces, woodlands, libraries and more and also enjoy creative activities, cooking, messy play and more!

I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework which is designed to support and promote children's healthy development and growth.

My Ofsted grade is GOOD (Nov 2024).

In my spare time (not that I get much with a baby!) I enjoy reading, socialising and getting out and about, mainly in London where I enjoy musical theatre and also watching football with my Dad and brothers. I support Liverpool but we often used to go to Chelsea mid-week as my Dad and youngest brother support them and Liverpool is a little too far to travel!

I have also been volunteering as a licensed Chaperone with a council-run Theatre project called ‘Star For A Night’ for young people aged 11-18 years for the past 10 years. We rehearse for three months between January and March and then put on a show in April which showcases all that the children have learnt.

My Experience

Until January 2014, I had been working in a day Nursery in Reigate for 5 1/2 years with children aged 3 months to five years. I began working as bank staff, moving around rooms and working as and when I was needed, and managed to progress to Room Leader in the Toddler age group. Being Room Leader allowed me to organise a small groups of adults and children and learn more about the paperwork side of childcare.

During this time, I spent 8 months working in a children's centre additionally with children aged 3-5 years.

I have experience working as part of both a large and small team, helping to organise and carry out activities with groups of children as well as more individual activities. I have lots of experience in looking after twins and also a small amount of experience in working with children with additional needs and helping to meet their specific requirements.

I decided to make the switch from Nursery-Based Childcare to Home-Based Childcare for two main reasons. Firstly, I wanted to expand upon my experience within the childcare sector and find new ways to practice the skills learnt during my NVQ studies. Secondly, I wanted to improve my home/work balance. In my most recent role at Nursery, I was working 11 hour days with 45 minutes travelling each way and had begun to feel like I didn’t have time for anything but work! For as long as I can remember I have wanted to work with children and I feel that my time working in a nursery has helped me to gain lots of experience and understanding in this area which I thought would benefit me going into a fresh challenge!

My Qualifications

I completed my NVQ Level 3 in The Children and Young People's Workforce in March 2012 and hold Paediatric First Aid (completed Nov 2022) which is renewed every 3 years and Food Hygiene certificates also (completed April 2020).

I hold a recent Fully Enhanced DBS check, as does my partner, and I update my Safeguarding training certificate at least once every three years (completed October 2024).

My Availability

I have recently returned to work from Maternity Leave (Sept. 2024) and have dramatically reduced my working hours and availability since my little one arrived. As a result I do not currently have any vacancies for the 0-5 years available. Nor do I have any becoming available for the foreseeable future.

My spaces are available term-time only.

I am able to offer FEET funded places.

Ordinarily, my working hours are 9am-4.30pm but specific hours are negotiable.

It's always worth contacting me as sometimes I might know of a vacancy becoming available in the future (eg. one of my current children might be reaching nursery age) so I may be able to help you out eventually!

I am currently unavailable for evening and weekend babysitting.

Chelsey has been caring for my daughter since she was 8 weeks old and she is now 2 1/2. I am a single mum who works full-time so it has been an absolute Godsend to find Chelsey. I have never had to worry about my daughter and my daughter loves going every day, in fact over the Christmas period she often asks when she's going to visit 'bunny'. Chelsey has helped to support me in a variety of ways and has been a great resource for information on all aspects of child development.
My daughters days are structured with crafts, dance and trips out. There is a newsletter and Facebook closed group where information is shared on topics being introduced for that month. The fact that Chelsey lives at home has been an added bonus as it feels like my daughter has gained a family, with Chelsey's brothers happy to interact with my daughter. Chelsey's mum is also a childminder from home so it is wonderful for my daughter to have different children of different ages to interact with.
I am very sad to be leaving Chelsey but I am doing so only because my circumstances have changed and I want to spend more time this summer with my daughter.
I would not hesitate to recommend Chelsey to anyone seeking a professional, reliable childminder.
