My Summary

My Experience

I am Mum to 3 children, a 20 year old girl, a 12 year old boy and a 7 year old boy. I am step-mum to a 19 year old girl. The experience and confidence I have gained as a parent has been invaluable.

I had worked as a childminder for 7 years in England. Prior to this, I worked in business training. I decided to embark on a career working with families and children as I became a parent myself and my priorities changed. After relocating to Scotland 14 years ago, I decided to continue my childcare business here. I have looked after many children from diverse backgrounds including those with cultural and disability differences. I am adaptable and like to offer a personal, friendly, welcoming 'home from home' service. Working in partnership with parents allows me to offer the best possible care for their children. In addition, My daughter is registered as an assistant and works along side me on busier days.

In 2020 I registered as a funded provider with the local authority which means that I can offer funded hours to 3-5 yr olds and some eligible 2 yr olds.

I have an abundance of references from families I have worked with, many of which, remain close friends.

My Qualifications

I graduated from the University of Glasgow in June 2023 with a BA degree in Childhood Practice. I decided to continue with my studies and I am currently working towards a Masters in Education (PgCert/PgDip/MEd). Having completed extensive study in childhood and youth studies, child psychology and investigative psychology, I have sound knowledge on physical and mental development of pre and post birth through into adolescence, parenting styles and the impact on children, cultural and economical influences on childhood and supporting educational factors to name a few areas.

I worked closely with the Care Inspectorate, the local Council and Public Health Scotland throughout the pandemic where my skills and knowledge have proven to be essential in supporting critical care and key working families.

As previously noted, I am registered as a funded provider with the local authority which allows me to work in partnership with Renfrewshire council offering fully funded 1140 hours or blended care options for 3/4yr olds (and eligible 2yr olds).

I have and continue to update relevant first aid, child protection certificates and relevent continued professional development. Although Childminders are not required to be members of the SSSC, I do work to the standards for childhood practice as this was/is and continues to be embedded within education that i am undertaking (Standards for childhood practice 2016 can be found online) as well as the health and social care standards and a plethora of frameworks and Scottish legislation.

I ensure I keep myself involved in the regular changes to any area of childminding, which during current times can be a daily occurrence.

Further qualifications include:

Diploma in Home-based childcare L3.

Disclosure Scotland for myself, my husband and my eldest daughter who are living on the premises.

Access to higher education: Health and Science.

Open university Foundation degree level : Certificate in Social sciences, child development.

We have a car available and insured for childminding purposes so there is ample space for children of all ages with car seats to suit ages between 0-12 years. We live in a detached house with a large enclosed rear garden with close links to local parks, walking paths and train station. We have good connections to the M8 (East and West bound), train services and equally good connections to the Erskine Bridge.

My Availability

I am currently full but offer a waiting list. All families who are using my services have first choice of days/hours they may require. I do not operate a drop and collect service to and from a nursery placement unless this is a blended care option. Further information can be provided should this be a requirement. I also do not offer a school drop and collect service at present. I try to be as flexible as I possibly can to support parents with changing needs/ shift patterns. flexible. My Fees

• Childminding from £5.00 per hour
