My Summary
About Me
Hello. I'm Heather, an experienced, qualified and OFSTED registered nanny. I live in Fordham with my husband and our wonderful daughter who is coming up for 7 months old. I have always loved working with and looking after children, and I am very passionate about what I do.
I consider the following attributes to be really important when working with children and their families, and I believe I possess them all:
* Hardworking and punctual
* Kind, caring, and affectionate
* Trustworthy, loyal, and honest
* Enthusiastic, positive, and encouraging
I am:
* Experienced
* Qualified
* Have an up to date DBS
* First aid trained
* OFSTED registered
* Insured
When I'm not working, I love spending time with my husband, daughter, family, and friends. I love the countryside and nature. I enjoy being outside in all weather, whether it be a walk in the woods and tree climbing or splashing my feet in the sea at the beach building sandcastles. I also like shopping, cinema, holidays, spa days, gym and swimming etc.
My Experience
I have over 15 years experience of working in the childcare sector with excellent checkable references.
I am currently working as a nanny for two families and have been with them for the past two and a half years (different days). The children are currently aged between three and five years old.
Previous to this employment I was with my last family for almost 4 years, beginning my role caring for their first child who was a year old, four months later we were joined by her baby sister and I took sole charge care of them both right up until they started school.
I have also worked for a family who had twins of 3 months, this was a temporary position in which I worked along side mum to get the babies into a good routine.
I have experience of being within a busy household after I temporarily carried out a nanny role for a family who had three children of 8 weeks old, 14 months old and 6 years old so am used to being busy, organised and kept on my toes!
For six years I have done wrap around care picking the children up from nursery, school, clubs and activities and getting them home, completing homework, dinner, bathed and into bed. I have done numerous long days with the family over the school holidays and weekends. Although my regular work with them has come to a natural end due to the children starting school, I still occasionally help out.
Within my nanny roles my duties include most typical nanny responsibilities:
* Arranging fun and educational days out - eg parks, zoo, farm, beach, classes, swimming, playgroups
* School drop off and pick up
* Completing homework projects/tasks
* Play dates
* Activities within the home to promote all areas of children's development such as crafts, messy play, workbooks, outdoor play, baking etc.
* Preparing and cooking all meals and snacks throughout the day for the children. This also includes the making, washing and sterilising of milk bottles for babies
* Keep on top of all the children's laundry including weekly bedding changes
* Keeping areas such as their bedrooms/play areas clean and tidy.
I also have plenty of proxy parenting experience. This entails staying at families homes for periods of time while parents/carers could be away for work/holiday, etc. I literally take on the role as parents would so that while they are away everything runs as it would if they were there and the children are cared for, meeting all their needs, and, are as comfortable as possible.
Before I took on a nanny role, I had spent the rest of my childcare experience working in nurseries. I worked hard and gained lots of experience and spent a number of years running a two to three room. I worked my way up a few promotions to senior room manager. After many years working with two to three year olds and preschool age, I ran a room looking after one to two year olds, which I loved! After gaining experience in this role, I decided to leave nurseries for a new challenge.
I have had years of experience working with children with special needs; from learning difficulties to speech and language to behavioural problems to autism.
Obviously, I can now add my own experience as a parent, which has been somewhat different from nannying! I feel this will have a real positive effect on my next role. I have now got a much deeper understanding and level of empathy in relation to being a parent and wanting the absolute best for your children.
