My Summary
About Me
*space now filled*
One day will becoming available mid to end November 2024 - Tuesday and Thursday: all day space for child not yet at school. Can be a funded space if need be.
I can also offer funded spaces ( from when child turns 3 yrs old) to use your 1140 hrs childcare entitlement if your child is 3 or 4 yrs old - or you can blend care with a local nursery provision where you can split your entitlement. I however do not offer wrap around care where I will pick up and drop off from local nurseries for funded places, as a funded provider myself this is not a financially viable option. Contact me to discuss how funding works. If your child is not of an age to access funding I also offer other spaces that may still be of use to you so please contact me to discuss your options. Hours available are 8-5, weekdays, term time available.
My name is Barbara Anne Dennistoun and I am a married Mum of 2 adult children: aged 27 and 23 - one boy and one girl.
My son is a civil engineer who is married and lives locally in Newton Farm and my daughter who still lives at home and works hybrid.
I have been a Registered Childminder since 2002 and it is the first time I've had a job that I actually look forward to starting every morning! It's a job I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to.
I live in the Drumsagard area of Cambuslang, it's central to both Camuslang, Blantyre and Hamilton and EK. I drive, so the children get to visit lots of places, such as music class, softplay, toddler groups, parks, library, shops and the farm and the woods.
My Experience
Registered Childminder 22 years
Mum 27 years
I have successfuly cared for children from 2 weeks old to 15 years old. All with very different needs.
Some of my children had been with me since just after I started childminding until they went to high school giving fantastic continuity for families and siblings. The longest time I've cared for a mindee is 11 and a half years which is from baby to high school. Older mindees who are now adults still stay in touch and pop in from visits when on break from university.
My Qualifications
I completed my SVQ Level 3 in Childrens Learning, Care and Development in 2008.
I regularly update my training in child protection and first aid and attend various training events throughout the year to keep up to date with the latest requirements, the latest ones being a course on Froebel in Childhood Practice at University of Edinburgh, children’s mental health, trauma informed parenting, Autism Asareness, Internet Safety, Asthma Awareness, Food Hygiene, Paediatric First Aid, Risk Assessment and Infection Control, Ace experiences, Trauma Informed Parenting. I am currently Convenor of the board the SCMA childminding association and have previously served as their Convenor and director for 6 years. I have been a funded provider for the last 5 years.

We will all really miss you and Corey. He is a beautiful boy and your a really good mum to him. Keep in touch and lots of love. Xx
Barbara took my little girl on during the Covid crisis, I’m a key worker and my childcare provider closed. My little girl settled into Barbara’s very quickly, she loved baking cakes,Arts and crafts, going to park and getting her nails painted. Barbara provides a loving, warm friendly services, her hous2e is immaculate and she adheres to all infection control policies, she was a great support to my girl with her transition between childcare services but also a great emotional support to me during this pandemic. It made it easier going to work knowing that my little one was in a safe loving environment. I would highly recommend Barbara to anyone who requires child care x

My son (18months) went to Barbara and settled in straight away. She always had him out and about which broadens his day to day experiences. Barbara goes out of her way to ensure that his routine is followed and flexible in her approach to find what's right for the children. I would highly recommend Barbara

I just found this review about your wee guy. Thank you. We still miss him. Xx
Barbara has been babysitting my 2 boys (2 and 4) for over a year. My boys took to her straight away and always enjoy their time in or out of the house with her. I would thoroughly recommend her as a babysitter.
