My Summary
About Me
In terms of my personality and character, I feel that I can be understanding as well as firm in my dealings with both parents and children, but I can also step back when necessary. I am well motivated in what I do, and am able to work on a one-to-one basis, as well as alongside other team members. I have good listening and practical skills.
I am well organised and a motivated worker who is able to plan various activities that will engage the children so that their enjoyment is maximised and their development is appropriate to their age and abilities whether this be individually or in group play sessions.
I keep up-to-date with developments in child care, especially where it has had a direct bearing on the situation in which I was working in. I believe that it is very important for me to do this, as I need to be aware not only of the current issues in child care, such as child protection, but also of current views on family relationships
Before my current employment, I spent over 17 years as a nanny and a nursery nurse. During that time I was able to observe the developmental milestones of children through the various ages of those for whom i cared for.
Among my spare time interests are reading, going to the cinema, going out with my friends, and spending time with my husband. I am also a member of the National Trust, and I enjoy visiting the gardens and properties owned by them.
My current employment is coming to an end at the end of August, due to the children starting nursery full-time.
I will be looking for something to commence from mid September.
My Experience
5 January 2012 – April 2013 Mrs Geraldine McEnroe
I was in sole charge of 3 children aged 4, 3 and 16 months working 30 hours over 2.5 days.
Activities include taking the older child to school and the middle child to playgroup on a Monday and picking them up. I would take the younger child to a toddler group. After I picked the children up, we sometimes would go to the park or go and feed the ducks. I then would give them their tea and bath them before either parent came in. Tuesday I would have the 2 younger children, so I would try and do various activities such as baking, colouring sticking and playing various board games. If the weather is nice I would try to go out and give them some fresh air. They would go on their bikes or we would go to soft play in the car. I would give them their tea again and bath them, ready for mum and dad coming in.
Wednesday, I would take the older child to school and the other child to nursery and I do various activities with the younger child, until their mum came in after lunch
PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT
7 January 2010 – 31 December 2011 Mrs Charlotte Annett
I was in sole charge of 2 year old twins having joined when they were 6 months old. This involves feeding, changing and activities - e.g. painting and soft play. This also includes activities such as baby signing, kindermusik and story time at the library, following discussion with the parents as to their children’s development needs.
As part of their development needs, the children attended nursery 2 mornings a week.
The job also involved babysitting as required
The job came to an end, as the family relocated to London. Although I was asked to relocate to London with the family I was unable to do so due to my husband’s job.
3 June 2009 - 23 October 2009 Orchard Trees Day Nursery, Thorganby
I worked in a private day nursery as a under two’s supervisor, in a room looking after children aged 6 weeks - 2 years. My day to day role was to plan activities that were suitable for each individual child. As under two’s supervisor I ensured that all staff worked to the routine of the room and any issues were raised with myself and sorted.
My job came to an end when I decided that a return to nannying was best suited to my skills.
2 May 2006 - 31 March 2009 Gosforth Private Day Nursery, Newcastle upon Tyne.
I worked in a private day nursery as a senior nursery nurse, in a room looking after children aged 2 - 3 years. My day to day role was to plan activities for the children to participate in and work with the other staff in the room working on the weekly planning.
My job came to an end when I gave my resignation, as I was leaving the region to move to York.
15 August 2005 - 1 March 2006
I looked after two children, aged 5 and 7 years. My duties included taking them to school, domestic duties for the children, running the house and certain administrative duties for my employer. The job came to an end when the family moved to Kent, however I was asked to relocate with the family, such was relationship with my employer.
29 March 1995 - 12 August 2005
I was looking after a young boy who had Dyspraxia, and who required additional support and care. When I began this employment he was 3 years old. I provided all-day care doing various activities, and also visiting the speech therapist and physiotherapist. When he started school I was on stand-by so that I would be there if the school needed to get in touch with me. I occasionally did overnights as his mother was away with work on various occasions. I was employed for 5 days a week, and during an average week I could work up to 50 hours. This job came to an end when the child changed schools.
