About Me
I have been childminding for 32years. I have 3 children of my own. I am married. I live in the Carrville/Belmont area which is close to A1, A690 and just out of Durham City.
My Experience
I have many years of experience. I have cared for many children during that time. I still keep in contact with the majority of them. In fact some of my past mindees are now beginning to have children of their own and I have been to some of their weddings!
I love my job and find it rewarding supporting children in their learning and development.
In 2005 I was National Childminder of the Year. At that time I was the only person outside of London to win this award. I was nominated by one of my 'parents ' and I was so proud. Earlier this year I had an Ofsted inspection and I received my very first Outstanding grade. I have been working towards this grade for a long time.
My Qualifications
I have NVQ level 3 in children's care learning and development. I attend as many training courses as I can to keep up to date with the latest developments. Last year I attained a BA (Hons) in Early Years.
I am accredited to provide nursery education in my own home. This gives parents the option to choose where the child received their free entitlement of 15 hours nursery education. Some parents have chosen a mixture of nursery education with an accredited childminder and nursery. Parents may wonder why I have so many vacancies. It is because I gave up childminding last Christmas as I needed a hip replacement. I had the surgery in April and I have had an amazing recovery. Back to full fitness and raring to go. I really miss having children around me. I help out at two local toddler groups as I love hearing children laugh,and seeing children have fun.
My Availability
I have vacancies most days. I am flexible and used to working around shift patterns. I am normally only closed 3 weeks a year.
