My Summary
Offering A Safe, Caring, Small Fun Learning Environment For Young Children
About Me
Offering a safe, caring, small fun learning environment for young children.
Open from 7am until late.
OFSTED graded OUTSTANDING in all areas.
Convenient rural location, close to Micheldever and Winchester train station for easy commute.
My care is focused on 0-4-year-olds. I have no commitment to school runs which allows me to concentrate on each individual child's feeding and sleep routine. I provide an early year’s education through play and exploring.
I have been a registered childminder for 20 years and have two children of my own, Megan 21 has her own home so does not live at home and Alfie 16 is in full-time education at Sparsholt College. Meg and Alfie have always been content and socially acceptable around other children.
Myself and my husband Steve are fully police-checked in accordance with my childminding registration requirements. Steve and I have been married for 20 years and together for 26 years. Steve works as a local Farmer and works between 7am and 6 pm. We have one dog (border collie) Jethro and 4 cats all are well trained and very used to children. My mother-in-law is also registered on my Ofsted certificate as my assistant when needed.
Upstairs is also registered in the house as I believe children need to have an area to sleep and rest undisturbed as needed. Downstairs is open plan allowing full supervision of children. There is also a large enclosed garden. Fresh drinks are provided and fruit for snack time.
We frequently go on outside adventures such as nature trails, splashing in puddles, poo sticks, picnicking, or just flying a kite. We visit soft play parks, and I am trained in story and music time as well as creating various arts and crafts and other activities.
I love the basics of life such as creating things out of shoe boxes and making music out of pots and pans. The seasons are a great way for children to learn and have fun. We have our own vegetable patch and have grown most of our vegetables from seeds so the children can get involved. We have a lovely cozy cabin that easily doubles up as a snug for storytime together.
There are many birds and much wildlife to explore with lovely walks in the local area. We often cook together and the children love to get involved with this. The children may get messy so a change of clothes and welly boots is helpful. (Pumpkin carving in the autumn is a favorite!)
I believe that the parent is the expert on their own child and I will endeavor to accommodate all of your wishes. Each child is treated as an individual and the more information I have the easier my job and the happier your child will be in my care. I do like to find time to have a brief information exchange at the start and end of each day. As a childminder, I maintain strict confidentiality about you and your family at all times.
I have attended various training courses and keep up to date with continuous professional development.
References are available from previous parents and my existing clients are happy to provide more.
I have full breakdown cover. Safety equipment includes appropriate car seats, pushchairs, sun blinds, and a variety of toys in the car at all times. First aid kit available at all times.
Please note I will only accept children that have been fully immunized.

Over the past 5 years both my daughter and then my son attended Janine’s childminding setting. They both loved it. She offers a wonderful, caring and creative setting, arranging lots of fun activities for all. I can highly recommend!

After looking into local nurseries and childminders, I knew I wanted our son to go to Janine’s. When I visited I loved the outdoor space and the homely feel in the house. Our son is a sensitive child who was super clingy before he started going to Janine’s and after the first week he was happy to leave us and we could tell he was having a lovely time. Now he’s even sad to leave Janine each day! It’s a safe home environment where all the family are lovely (my son particularly loves Janine’s husband, Steve). They do all sorts of games, arts and crafts - we love the handmade bits and bobs that come home. Our son has learnt a lot with Janine. He’s grown in confidence, social skills, fine motor skills and communication. He always eats well and sleep well when he is there and Janine follows home routines in terms of naps, snacks, medication, potty training, etc. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place for our child because it suits his needs to a T. We’ll be sad when the time comes to leave Janine’s but hope to send any future children there too!

My son has been with Janine since he was 12 months when I went back to work. Starting childcare in the middle of a pandemic was daunting but Janine put us all at ease and my son has loved going to Nene's ever since.
Janine provides an exceptional environment for the children and provides amazing care as well. I have noticed my sons language development is ahead of his other friends and also his emotional development and understanding has been accelerated by being with someone who is so well informed, caring, fun and creative.
The children have a wonderful time and are always learning new things. Janine adapts to different needs and interests of the children, for example, my son loves to get outside and play in the garden or go on nature walks or to the park but also enjoys making and creating things in the house as well as playing with the toy cars and garage!
My son (now 3) will be moving on to in the next few months but being at Nene's has prepared him well and he will definitely miss his time there. My twins will be starting with Janine at the same time and we are looking forward to starting their journey in this special childcare setting.

My daughter started at Janine's when she was 12 months old, and I had never left her up until this point. Needless to say the thought of going back to work was causing lots of anxiety. I'm a first time single mum and had no idea where to begin in the search for childcare. I'm fortunate to live in the same village as Janine and luckily for me she was recommended by everyone I spoke to on the daily walks with my daughter. The recommendations definitely pushed me in the direction of Janine, instead of a Nursery, and thank goodness they did. From our very first meeting, I knew this was the right setting for my daughter. Her home is spotlessly clean (I have no idea how she manages this !) And her garden is large and spacious, with a cabin for the children to play in. But aside from this, Janine is so warm kind and caring and incredibly knowledgeable and professional. Whenever I have questions she is my go to woman and I'm never made to feel stupid ! She provides me with regular updates to make me feel at ease, and this honestly makes all the difference. 4 months on and my little girl is thriving. Her speech is incredible for a girl of her age (she definitely hasn't got this from me !) She has gone from no routine and contact napping to a solid routine and naps independently for a long stretch which was unheard of before Janine (as I said life changing). We rarely have tears at drop off and she just seems so happy when I collect her. She also regularly comes home with various arts and crafts, which she is super proud of. I'm so greatful "nene" is in our lives, I'm able to focus on my career feeling super confident my baby is happy and cared for. Would thoroughly recommend.

My daughter is now turning three and moving onto nursery. Janine has offered a nurturing and wonderful environment to help her grow over the past 20 months or so. My daughter is always so excited in the morning to be going to "Nini's" and it's been a great weight off my mind knowing she is enjoying herself whilst I'm at work. Janine is highly experienced and incredibly professional in everything she does.
