About Me
My name is Andrea Stanley and I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I live in the Shevington area of Wigan with my husband Jay and I am the proud mum of 21 year old twins.
As a mum myself of twins my priority is to make sure that all children in my care feel that they are cared for and happy and that parents have absolute faith in me that I will do the best I possibly can for their child.
With the help and support of my family I have converted part of our home into a child friendly area in which children can play and learn. I have tried to provide a rich inviting environment that will challenge children to explore and build a firm foundation for their future journey through their early years. I currently adopt a curiosity approach in my setting to help children explore, question and achieve their own personal goals.
I hope that with my help children will have fun, laugh, learn and develop. All children are encouraged to develop their own little personalities and be given positive guidance to ensure they are progressing well. I feel it is essential for every child's development that they experience a variety of different situations, challenges and environments. Children are eager to explore the many different experiences I provide. We regulary visit various places such as parks, picnics, farms, shops, playgroups, physibodies, library, museums, different modes of transport and many more to help them explore and socialize for themselves. Sample menus are available for all parents to view and I welcome any suggestions or ideas they would like me to add for the benefit of your own particular child. I have had lots of previous experience in providing for allergy or intolerance diets.

The most important part if my job is ensuring that every child feels loved, safe and secure and I work closely with parents to make sure that I provide each child with exactly the right individual care. Parents feedback and recommendations can be provided on request.
My Experience
I have been childminding for the last 12 years. The first two years I worked as an assistant childminder for two days per week which were my days off from my other job. I loved being around children and helping them learn and grow and I decided to become self employed and dedicate all my time to childcare. I love being with the children and I just wished I had done this sooner.
Over the last few years I have spent a great deal of time watching the children and listening to their views and the views of their parents. I have made changes to my home which have been extremely popular with children and appreciated by parents. We have lots of outdoor resources such as ride on toys, sandpit, water channel play, mud kitchen, mark making easel, reading area, wigwam and experiment area to name a few. Our indoor playroom is filled with natural everyday items for curious minds. In addition we play games, role play, dressing up ,lots of craft, music time, daily reading time reading.. The rest of the time is our chance to explore investigate on our many adventures outdoors and we are blessed with living close to open woodland which is a favourite of all the children as they can explore and investigate our natural world.
My Qualifications
I have completed the relevant Ofsted required training courses and continue to attend any other courses available which I feel may assist me to fulfill my duties as a childminder. I have also completed the Wigan council training course which includes the new Eyfs and seven areas of learning. All training is ongoing and I regularly assess the areas that I think would benefit from further training.
I have gained certificates in Paediatric First Aid, Basic food hygiene, Advanced food hygiene, Health and safety at work, Coshh and have all my required documentation for public liability insurance.

Monday - Thursday 7.30am until 5.30 pm
Later times can be arranged in advance depending on my family requirements

Andrea had been childminder to my 4 year old son since he was 9 months old. She is excellent in every sense, very professional, reliable, organised, compassionate, but above all loving and genuinely caring. My son had the best time in her care. He was shy and little grumpy little man but Andrea has contributed immensely in developing his happy and adventure seeking character. As a result he gained confidence, good manners, developed key literacy and numeracy skills and all of that in a very happy home environment. When leaving at the age of 4, he was ready and well equipped in every sense to embark on his school adventure.

I feel truly blessed to have shared these past 4 years. Its been a privilege to watch him grow into the kind loving funny little boy he is. I cannot believe how fast time has gone. He has become a big part of our family.
Andrea has been brilliant from the first time we made contact, right from the first text she sent I knew we had found someone special. She always has so much time for you and your children. My little girl has spent two years with Andrea and has loved every minute. Andrea has really helped her to grow and progress from being a baby to the outgoing little girl she is today. She is a warm, loving, fun and very experienced childminder. She helped make the settling in process as easy as it could be with settling in days, it made it a bit less difficult for me to go back to work, knowing that our little girl was being well taken care of. She does lots of arts and crafts projects, outdoor play and trips to children's centres, soft play centres, farms, on the train and parks. Andrea's house is very well resourced with interesting things for the children to do, focused on different areas of learning. I cannot recommend Andrea highly enough.

Andrea looked after my daughter and son when I was really struggling to find someone who I felt completely at ease with. Straight away she put all my worries to rest. The way she nurtures and cares for all the children is fantastic. I never had to worry about my daughter( and son )as I knew she was so happy and having so much fun. Homemade food, day trips out, learning experiences in her fabulous playroom and garden and lots of time and attention are a few of the things that made my daughter love her time with Andrea and her family. Andrea never charged for all the outings she went on (which were a lot) or ever let me down when I needed her to pick up or drop off due to my health.
Andrea helped me out so much and I really appreciate having her as my childminder, Not only for the care for the children but for the support she gave me. She was always just a phone call or text away if I needed to ask anything .
My daughter starts school shortly and I know that the strong support and encouragement given during her early years has provided her with the best start possible.
Thank you from all four of us and for keeping in touch even after we no longer needed a childminder. These are the special touches that andrea gives without a second thought that make her such a wonderful person.

Andrea has picked up my two girls from school for the last year now and they have absolutely loved going to her house. She has provided them with snacks after school and got age appropriate activities out for them to play with. She has a great space for the children to explore the toys and a fantastic outside space for the children to enjoy the great outdoors. If it wasn't for the fact we were moving house, the girls would still be going to her after school. A fantastic childminder who cares about the children in her care and a lovely family too. I would highly recommend her.

Thank you so much. I will really miss the girls. You must be so proud of such lovely well mannered and well behaved children. I have loved having them and I will keep in touch so I can hear all about their new home and school. xx
My son was with Andrea for almost 3 years right until going to school in September 2015 and during this time Andrea's home became an extension of our own. She has a superb space for the kids with a rear garden converted into an outdoor area for children to play in, full of toys, playhouses etc. To extend the season of outdoor play she had the lawn covered fully in artificial turf so kids stay clean and can enjoy the outside even on wet days.
I have seen over the years how much effort Andrea puts into improving the facilities and acquiring new play equipment for the children, she organises trips, takes children to play centres, farms, parks. My son was always keen to go to Andrea's and made many friends there.
Her family is great too, playing with children and just generally being absolutely lovely.
I want to make a particular mention of the fact that Andrea was fully accommodating of my son's medical requirements. She wasn't put off by catering to his allergies and was superb at providing care during his relapses,
when he required frequent cream applications and antibiotics.
I feel I was really fortunate to find Andrea when she still had spaces and I cannot imagine anyone else helping me raise my son through those all important formative years.
